A new Home...

We have moved…. And yes… it nearly killed me… or should I say I nearly killed everyone around me… we had a plan in place… the perfect plan… and yes you can all laugh now but it was not funny… a huge storm came threw and left us with no power…  sheesh… what a mess… everything was late or early… but we made it with help …after a desperate call to Kathy… and I didn’t have a backup plan…

but before the big move...
We had the family over for Australia Day for a swim and a BBQ… our last hurrah…

And Ta da… baby Willow… born the 30th weighing 7lb 14oz at 8.53am… such a tiny treasure… congratulations… mum and dad…

our Grandbaby number 5...

On the 6th we dropped Robbie’s Quilt at Fiona's place to be quilted… It was a perfect day and a very long trip…

Backing

Wow… these came... we had professional photo take on our cruise… ta da…

On the subject of selling our friend Diane has also sold and we had our last sewing day at her place… it was a bit hot so we ventured outside… it was such a lovely day

Till next time…Cheerers for now and thanks for stopping by… Robyn…

and sorry for my tardiness... it has been a tough few weeks... we have no internet but I am using my Hotspot on my phone...

Selling.... Sold and Babies....

We are expecting number 5 grandchild in a few days and I have made special bags for mummy to give to her girls…. our other grand babies and I also made one for her sister to give to her… a special mummy bag… as many are not aware we lost our number 1 grandbaby who was born far to early but he holds a very special place in our hearts …. Jasper that’s why I say 5th grandchild....

We had a very exciting end to last year and an amazing start to this year…. and it is just getting better…. We have signed a contract to sell and we have also found a place to buy…. And this all happens on the 12th of next month… so we are going to be flat out…  and up to our necks in packing….

This all happened the day we boarded the Dawn a P&O cruise liner… the 9th of January… I have never been on a cruise and my wonderful hubby surprised me … it was a 4 night trip to Airlie Beach and back… with a night of Gatsby …flapper dresses and feather bowers… it was so much fun… and it was so very nice…

he looks stuffed....

and a cuppa at Airlie Beach

then on the 18th of this month we disappeared to a friend place for a few days …

And the owner of the quilt I am making… (Robbie's quilt) also came up on the 19th and we decided on the design for backing as I am building a strip for the back of the quilt and ta da…

So its all coming along very nicely but we also got to just sit and soak up the view…. with cheese and crackers...

Till next time…Cheerers for now and thanks for stopping by… Robyn…

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year… it was a very sad yet exciting year… lots of new and wonderful experiences… along with the sad and heartbreaking…

Robbie’s Quilt visited its new bed and it looks like it had made itself right at home…
and she just loves it and although it is yet to be quilted… by the amazing Fiona from  Bubzrugs

it is looking spectacular ….

Its new owner is a very good friend of mine and we traveled to Wooli NSW to stay a few days…  we had breakfast out the front with the river as our view…

One of the days we went exploring and took a drive to The Sandon…while Robbie rested… we had the expected stop for a cuppa at MacLean and then off through Brooms Head and onto The Sandon… we thought we could cross to the opposite side…. Ummm no… maybe by BOAT… not even on low tide…

Sunshine just had to come to explore also…

For the New Year we stayed on a boat …. We moored just north of Sea World… so close we could hear the sea lions… and saw most of the firework that filled the night sky from Paradise Point to Surface Paradise… and saw the 8 o’clock show and stayed up for the midnight ones… and just to top it all off we were lucky as the barge, with the fire works were only 100 ft away… so amazing to be so close…

Till next time…Cheerers for now and thanks for stopping by… Robyn…

Sheesh... its Christmas everywhere

Remember this little project I dragged out following the inspiration from I am … I blogged about it earlier this month… well don’t laugh … I learned whipped back stitch and I just love it…. Ta da

I didn’t get much sewing done but for the whipped back stitch…. as EVERYTHING is packed away as we are TRYING to sell this place…. BUT

I did manage to make this… and there is a story that goes with it and it is a bit long so please bear with me… when my girls first did sewing class at high school about 2002… I help out… as sewing was my profession BLAH BLAH BLAH oh and BLAH BLAH BLAH…

and when James took the same steps I also helped out about 2007…even though he was sort of annoyed about me attending his class… the first project was a simple bag but the next project was a pair of night shorts made with the student’s choice of fabric and the fabric below was the what James choose… yes, it is nearly 10 years ago but I really only just found the scraps and made this project to keep my sewing needles in…

I hope you like my version of a LONG story…. HA HA HA… would hate for me to digress and really tell a long story…
Oh... just a bit of background to the story I have two daughters Danielle and Suzanne and two sons James and Jacob all in that order…

And I made 1 star for a quilt in a box that is a group project… loving all the stars… its going to go together so very nicely…. I will make a few more...
and until next time…

Lunching...

Lunching… Not much stitching to blog about but lots of cutting (I will explain) … a small group of sewing friends enjoyed a lunch at Green Frog Hollow… yum yum yum it was perfect… thanks everyone…

With sewing…. Well… Cutting cutting and just a tiny bit if cutting…as I mentioned before but these beautiful Roses are for Robbie’s Quilt…

One row sorted…. Another to go... but its looking very nice…

then I need to blanket stitch around them… sheesh

With all the Christmas celebrations going on I was inspired to find this and finish it… thanks I am … its Oh Christmas Tree by Angles in Disguise … I know its older… but…. is just so cute...

I found it… right where I left it…. in the compendium that I made to keep safe…

the compendium found a perfect home in this…. Something I saved from the bin… the story behind the bag is sad but here goes…… many years ago, I helped my mum clean out my Nannas home as she had become frail and ill and needed constant care… so we moved her into an aged care unit and that’s how I saved this before it reached the bin… My Nan would be so proud…

I am a short and sweet sort of girl...

WHO… they named he/she WHO… a baby owl… it must have tried to fly and it didn’t work out … we found him/herself like this on the ground at a friend’s place… we promptly found a cardboard box and covered him/her from predators and it giving him/her a chance to hide… later the next day they found him/her perched in a tree next to a bigger owl… we are sure it was a mum or dad… so all good news … now the baby owl is enjoying the local night life…

Cheerers for now and thanks for stopping by… Robyn… thanks all and Merry Christmas

Retreat and graduating… oh and lost…

I received my results on Friday and I passed… Woo Hoo… I now have
completing my academic program and waiting for my graduation certificate… I was truly amazed and beside myself that I can now say I have completed my academic program…. a degree in commerce major in Accounting and a minor in Finance…Ta Da and Woo Hoo again…

I was away on retreat over the weekend and we had our Christmas Party… we all were very well behaved yet only got a little bit of sewing done…  it was so nice nonetheless…

I did finish these little treasures…
I purchased them some time ago… I am not going to say how long ago… but Ta Da… I just love them… the pattern is Deer Tree by Marg Low

and I had a go at needle turn… fiddly be nice… it’s a quilt in a box that is going around…

also, Sarah and I did these lovely projects… the funky zippers and fabric are from… Hands on workshop-HOW

the pattern is from Atkinson Designs called Bridget’sBagettes (AKT-162) with a Sarah twist… and we also have a second project to do, with the stripy fabric and funky zippers…

I did a little cooking leading up to my exam results and then proceeded to eat them… I just love homemade fruit mince pies….

And lookie who is made a home at our place….

Oh and the lost issue… be warned…. Be very warned… I was a really grumpy girl…
Sheesh… what a Thursday…. We had someone come view our place at 6pm… so we had to have the house cleaned for them…Grrr… and I also had to collect Dani Corey Harrison and Nanna from their overseas trip at the airport, at 6pm… it all was just one f#*@ up after another…
first the flights were LATE… and I had no way to find out…
secondly, I pulled over to call Phil and see if he could find out what the flip was going on…that’s when a security car pulled up behind me …. Beeping to move on…. I was off the road and I thought far enough away not to be an issue… NOT…
thirdly I got LOST… I was starving…. and as the plane was LATE I went to Maccas for a burger…. That’s when I got LOST…. SHEESH… told you it was mad… I am glad I have retreat coming up…
and lastly I was not a happy lady…
and as it is National Agriculture Day today this is how I support the amazing farming family’s…
Cheerers for now and thanks for stopping by… Robyn…

Sunday 5 November 2017

out and about!!!

I got out... and went to our craft show and lookie are who was there… I did find a few different projects to complete but catching up with these ladies was fun… it was last month and most of you have seen this photo but I really had a great day… thanks ladies…
I have this amazing vegie garden... that a local resident possum has made a meal of ANYTHING growing… so I purchased a bird net... as a way to STOP the scandal eating my vegies…. Well I am saddened to report it looks like the possum is not entirely  at fault... and after closer inspection lookie at where our monitor lizard is… the two could be working in combination... eaten my love vegies….  Spied this little sneak investigating the bird net…
then  I just found him chilling with the chickens…
On the sewing front…I make a baby blanket for my daughter to give to her best friends 1st baby … a little boy… called Arthur Ernest…
Our orchids flowered last month and I just love them all…they look so happy…

Phil and I went of on and adventure last month… catching up on Brisbane Open House… it was scrumptious….

and we also just had to do the Sunshine Coast Open House…. What an eye catcher…

Just as a side note...
We are back on the market … selling this place and shifting somewhere new… I have worked out  how to let this place go but Phil hasn’t and I doubt he will until we have found and moved into our new place… We have this amazing 10-year plan… that could happen… or not… but here we go….

I have also sat my last exam and it was easy enough… well I knew what they were asking of me…. I will get my grades on the 17th of this month and I will blog about it…
Cheerers for now and thanks for stopping by… Robyn…
